The Blue River Regulators were formed to provide an outlet for Western Action Shooting in southeast Nebraska. Our range is located 18 miles NW of Lincoln, NE. We hold regular monthly shoots April through October. We also hold an annual 3 day shoot called the “Ruckus at Raccoon Forks” in September. Monthly Shooting fees are $10 for BRR members; $15 for non-members; and juniors (12-17) shoot free. Ammo requirements are approx. 30-75 pistol (depending on class), 60-75 rifle and 25 shotgun. Please see “The Shootist” or the NCOWS website for exact time and dates.
We encourage visitors and new shooters to come out and join us. Dress as western as possible. We have classes for 2 guns (rifle/revolver); 3 guns (rifle/ 2 revolvers) and 4 guns (rifle/2 revolvers/shotgun). All firearms must be original or replicas of firearms available during the old west period of 1865-1899 (see approved firearm list at the NCOWS website). Black powder or smokeless powder cartridge guns in pistol calibers. Black powder cap & ball revolvers original or reproduction are also approved. Please check the approved and dis-approved list of firearms at the NCOWS website or call before you purchase any guns for western action shooting. If you do not have all the correct firearms, you can share guns or we will lend you what you need (bring own ammo 45LC/12ga.).
The range has restroom facilities (outhouses) and several watering stations. A free-will lunch and water are provided. We have a covered picnic shelter. The authentic look of the western era (1865-1899) is as important to our posse as the shooting. Membership in the Blue River Regulators is $20 the first year and $10 a year to renew. Additional family members may join for $10 the first year and $5 a year to renew. Membership in NCOWS is required before joining the club. We strongly recommend membership in the NRA.
Our range is located 3 miles west & 4 miles north of Valparaiso, NE. Range is on northwest corner of the intersection of county roads 31 (north-south) and “F” (east-west), continue north 1/8 mile to the driveway. Valparaiso is approximately 18 miles Northwest of Lincoln, NE.
